These paintings are precise renderings of scenarios involving unusual combinations of the natural world and improbable architectural structures. This work employs the use of lush color and representational imagery to explore environments devoid of humans in which deer and other animals appear as mysterious interlocutors. Created from elaborate digital collages, this series depicts a world in which a strange form of nature is allowed, at least for the moment, to respond freely and enigmatically to the human environment. This project draws upon sources that range from mid-century modernist furniture, experimental architecture, natural history, love songs of the 70’s and 80’s, and Ruskin’s notions of the pathetic fallacy.
